Involvement

Coronavirus Relief

During the Coronavirus pandemic, I learned how to sew and make homemade masks. I made over 200 masks for delivery drivers, Austin Street Homeless shelter, and neighbors.

Campus Kitchen

During my Sophomore year of college, I started volunteering at Campus Kitchen. We packed meals for schools and nursing homes with our leftover dining hall food. I also participated in compost crew. Every week, we would pick up all of these compost bins from the dining halls around campus and transport them to a garden.

Chief DEI Officer

sIn my sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta, I serve as the Chief Officer of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. I promote DEI lectures and events at Washington and Lee and provide a safe space for any prospective or current sorority members who have concerns or comments about inclusion in Theta.

NTFB Volunteer

During the height of the pandemic in 2020, my mother and I volunteered with North Texas Food Bank. We packed boxes of food into cars at the drive through food pantry.

Volunteer Camp Counselor

I volunteered as a camp counselor at Camp Freedom and Camp Out On A Limb through Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital. The campers attending were all amputees or were diagnosed with arthrogryposis.

National Charity League

Throughout High school, my mom and I participated in a Mother-Daughter charity league. I won the Yellow Rose award for completed over 75 hours of service in one year with the charity league. It was a great way to get involved with my community while also spending time with my mom.

Girl Scout Gold Award

I have been involved with Austin Street Homeless Shelter since 7th grade. For my Girl Scout Gold Award, I created a communication center at Austin Street to help people new to homelessness navigate this new point in their lives. I consolidated resources, programs, and hotlines into the communication center. This Gold Award is centered around leadership, and entails at least 80 hours of direct leadership. I also led monthly events for the clients at the shelter such as painting, crafts, and meals. Look below to see when I was featured in the Newspaper.
